Course Description

In today’s global marketplace, companies do business both within home country and internationally. As a result, exporting and importing have become an essential part of day-to-day operations. Since many businesses across a variety of sectors rely on global trade, they need to ensure that their operations have solid global trade compliance. Global trade compliance is the process and system of understanding and adhering to the laws and regulations controlling the export/import of goods, products, information and technology between a home country and other countries.

Course Content

The programme, which targets importers and exporters, customs laws enforcement officers, customs clearing and forwarding agents, and academia, is an introduction to global trade compliance and provides participants with the necessary skills, knowledge and competencies to enable them to pursue a career in the global trade industry. Among topics covered are: Principles of Customs Controls; Fundamentals of Import & Export Security Controls; Fundamentals of Classification; Introduction to Export and Import; and Principles of Supply Chain & Logistics.

Audience:

Targeted audience is policymakers/senior government officials, trade researchers, people working for international organisations, NGOs and representatives of the private sector who want to strengthen their understanding of trade compliance issues.

Prerequisite:

Internet connection is required as the multimedia lecture and assessment test are run entirely from the course website.  

Grading and certificate

A certificate will be issued to participants upon their completion of the multimedia lecture and course evaluation, as well as their success in the assessment test at the end of the course.
