The course focuses on development issues in the context of Doha Development Agenda (DDA), and the linkage between trade and development. Providing an overview of development-related issues in some of the main negotiating dossiers of the DDA, such as Agriculture, NAMA, Services and Trade Facilitation as well the work programme on special and differential treatment (S&D). In addition, it will address tools for trade related capacity building, including issues of particular interest to LDCs in the WTO such as the Integrated Framework for LDCs
The course aims to provide participants with an understanding of development-related issues in the WTO, with special emphasis on the DDA as well as a greater appreciation of the linkage between trade and development. Generally the Participants should have the responsibility of work relating to the WTO in their capitals, and to developmental issues and S&D in particular.

Audience:
Targeted audience is policymakers/senior government officials, trade researchers, people working for international organisations, NGOs and representatives of the private sector who want to strengthen their understanding of the WTO provisions related to development, and/or who are or may be involved in negotiation of trade policies aimed at supporting development.
Prerequisite:
Internet connection is required as the multimedia lecture and assessment test are run entirely from the course website.
Grading and certificate
A certificate will be issued to participants upon their completion of the multimedia lecture and course evaluation, as well as their success in the assessment test at the end of the course.
